Prescription E-Cigs

After previously blogging about the upcoming ban on e-cigs in public, I was intrigued when this one caught my eye.

Researchers at the King’s College, London have stated that e-cigs are 95% less harmful than normal cigarettes and there is no evidence to suggest they are a gateway for children to smoking.

At moment, 80,000 people die in the UK every year from smoking related deaths. Making it the highest cause of preventable death, ahead of obesity and alcohol. Research suggests that if all cigarettes were replaced with e-cigs the death toll would sit at around 4000.

The report says that although GPs and stop-smoking services are currently not able to prescribe e-cigarettes as none of the products on the market are licensed for medicinal purposes, they hope that hurdle will be removed in the future.

What are everyones thoughts?
